“Caught and dragged—I am the small fish” 2008
Acrylic on wood
This work dwells on a more utilitarian area. Padwal comments on the greed and hierarchy of the global markets and its operating forces. Everything is reduced to another life-style commodity, coveted and relinquished from the hands of the less fortunate. Smaller players in the game of life get dragged along, like a fish in a net or are swallowed up by bigger players. The artist comments on the anguish of hierarchy. The metaphor of a fish caught in the net of a trawler is a potent one.
